Go Wild! - Saturday 16th April 2011

Today we had our first Go Wild! day with lots of activities for all ages. These included pond dipping, bird walks, nature trail, things to make and take home, wild flower seeds, and more. Passers by could see the information displays about our ambitious plans for Biss Meadows, sign-up to Join the Friends and to complete our Community Survey. We also received many donations totalling over £40 for which we are extremely grateful.

Thanks to all who helped, particularly Ashley for organising the whole day, John Austin for the Bird Walk, Trowbridge Council and Mike for the use of their gazebos, and the Community Wardens for their help throughout the day. This included some heavy muscle to put up and take down the gazebos and work on demolishing the aging information display by the pond. This had been badly vandalised the previous day and parts thrown into the pond where the swans were nesting. It was therefore felt important to remove the remnants to reduce the risk of harm to the swans.

Thanks to those who helped throughout the day: Alan and Janet with the nature trail, information displays and surveys; Ashley, Jacky and Jenny with pond dipping; and Mike and the two Steves on Spider's Webs and Wild Flowers.
