A gazebo, kindly lent by the Town Council, kept us and our displays dry for the two hours. Rugs provided a dry area for the children (with a little help from parents and the team!) to sit and make attractive mobiles (the sort that hang on string). Tin foil was cut to shape using a choice of stencils including butterflies and insects. These were then coloured using felt pens, a hole was punched so they could be suspended by string from sticks. All we needed was some sun to see them sparkle. It wasn't forthcoming that morning but hopefully the children had more luck in the afternoon when the sun did indeed come out.
Then it was time for the bug hunt. With Jacky armed with nature books and Ashley her camera, the party were off to leave no stone unturned in their quest to find the most weird and horrible looking beast of Biss Meadows! See below for photos of what was found. Click on a photo to view a larger image. Use your browser back button to return.
Thank you to Jacky and Ashley for organising and to Mac, Michael, Steve, Sharl, Alan, Josh and Oli for helping with transporting the equipment and gazebo, setting up and taking down.
