Walking
Via Tesco's car park (letter T on the
2nd lower map)
-
There are two choices:
-
Take the wooden footbridge
(B) opposite the main entrance to
the store - this will take you down the east side of the river Biss and will
give you the longest walk.
-
Or take the slope at the far end of the car park
(C) - this will give you a short walk
to the end of Longfield Road and Cheviot Close
(D) but you can then walk up to Broadcloth
Lane, then down to Broadcloth Lane East and make a circular walk back through
the country park.
Via West Ashton Road
-
There are foot paths at various points along this road. From the roundabout
at the junction with County Way:
-
Immediately there is a path alongside the old woollen mill
(E).
-
This path is joined by a path from Clarendon Avenue.
-
There is a path opposite the entrance to Trowbridge Lodge
(F) and just before the BP garage
(G).
-
At the roundabout, just past the garage, walk along Broadcloth Lane East.
At the start of the bridge by the bus stop there is a slope down into the
park (G).
-
Down the hill from the roundabout just before the new houses at Old
Farm there is a footpath into the park
(H).
-
There is access within the Old Farm estate
(I).
Via the Town Park (letter
P on
the 2nd lower map)
-
There are two access points from the Town Park:
-
At the south east corner of the Town Park
(J) the river, and a footpath alongside
it, both go under County Way via an underpass. Continue down this path to
the wooden footbridge (B). Don't go over
the bridge but continue into the Country Park.
-
Alternatively, in the south west corner of the Town Park, take the main path
onto the footbridge (K) over County Way
and into the Tesco's car park (T) (see
top of page).
Driving
-
The easiest way is to drive down West Ashton Road and at the roundabout by
the BP garage (P) turn into Broadcloth
Lane East. Access is down the slope by the bus shelter
(G).
Bus
-
Many bus services terminate in either Castle Street, Market Street,
Fore Street or Manvers Street, all close together in the town centre. At
the junction of Market Street, Fore Street and Silver Street you will find
the Town Hall. Take Park Road, the footpath by the side of the Town Hall,
and into the Town Park. Then as stated above.
-
There is the No. 66 town service bus that goes from Market Street in the
centre of Trowbridge through the Longfield and Weavers Drive estates, then
along Broadcloth Lane, then along Broadcloth Lane East and then back
to Town via West Ashton Road. This service only goes in the one direction.
Alight at the bridge in Broadcloth Lane East and take the slope by the bus
shelter into the country park (G).
Train
-
Trowbridge is on the line from Salisbury (via Warminister and Westbury) and
from Bath (via Bradford-upon-Avon).
-
From the station it is 5 to 10 minutes walk to the town centre. Go up Wicker
Hill, along Fore Street and Park Road into the Town Park (see under Bus above).
